ALERT! THE REVISED MEDICARE FEE SCHEDULE
for 2007can now be downloaded.
MEDICARE "The 2007 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS)"
The 2007 fee schedule previously sent to you (with the 5% decrease) was negated by Congress earlier this month. The President signed the bill making it official just before Christmas. However, Medicare has a
mandate to update the relative value units (RVUs) every 5 years, and they have done so, which makes the
2006 fee schedule also incorrect. For instance, the e & m code 99213 has now increased over $6; so if you
use the 2006 fee schedule, you will not be reimbursed the amount you should be. The revised Medicare fee
schedule may be accessed as follows:
1)Go to Empire Medicare's web site address: 2)Scroll down the home page to the blue "In the Spotlight" section. The second entry
says "The 2007 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS)". Click on New Jersey
(ignore the part that says "Posted 11/16/2006" - this has been revised). 3)The page you come to should now read "Available Fee Schedule Information". Scroll
down to (yellow) NJ - Area 01 (this covers Northern NJ). (This says revised 12/21/06). Download the corrected fee schedule for 2007. REMINDER: You will need an NPI number to get reimbursed! The clock is ticking! If you haven't
yet applied, please do so. To apply on-line, go to: https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/NPPES/Welcome.do FEES: OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDERS The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance recently proposed regulations that establish
